Christian was born in Mecklenburg, Germany. According to his obituary in the Chilton Times, he immigrated in the fall of 1865 with his wife, little daughter, father, and sister. Anna was born in Schwerin, Mecklenburg, Germany. According to her obituary in the Chilton Times, she immigrated in 1860 and married Christian in 1861. According to the U.S. census, they were married in the early 1860s and became naturalized citizens in 1868.
Christian was a farmer and homesteaded northwest of Stockbridge, WI near Lake Winnebago. He and Anna belonged to the Reformed church in Stockbridge. They moved into town in 1905, leaving the farm to son William. Their daughter Edith lived with them and cared for them. Christian died of dropsy.
